Pine Away
Pine Away
2 pieces of enamel on copper mounted on wood panel, 5 x 5 x 1.5.
The colors are a combination of very dark green-black, bright green, red and brick red with a bit of black and slate gray. This piece also has a small bit of blue and orange. The enamel copper piece wraps around the sides of the panel and some of the panel is visible on all sides and front..
I fold form dimensional lines into copper sheet and trim the edges to shape my “canvas”. I apply liquid and sifted enamels to build up five or more layers of color. Each color is fired in a kiln at 1400 degrees before the next layer is added. The surface is etched and hand sanded to a smooth matte finish. The finished pieces are mounted together on a wood panel (black finish) with a sawtooth hanger.
